That's an interesting question.  Do companies have a purpose beyond making money for a few investors?  Is there a reason for a country to protect and provide services for companies?

Do nations benefit or is it only for a few investors that benefit?  Are all products that create wealth for the owners of real value or are they trinkets, fads and future landfill at the expense of the populace and the environment?  Wealth created by products should have a positive effect on society and part of that is job creation.

And that is the contribution of each individual citizen in their determination of what and when to buy and who from. Don't put all the responsibility on capitalistic businesses. The ultimate direction of a democratic society lies with the citizenry.

Or now maybe with citizens and illegal aliens. *****
