Have a childhood friend that was in the engineering department at Waterloo when Deere had big layoffs about ten years ago. He says it sounds bad to layoff workers but at that plant it's almost impossible to get union employees to work overtime when production is booming so that production has to be filled with workers who are hired knowing they are short term jobs.
