| We are just spoiled, back 40-50 years ago the tractor plant would always shut down for 'maintenance ' in the summer.sometimes it took a week sometimes a month.depending on how many tractors are on the lot.
when i built engines we would always know when the combine plant was caught up ,sometimes we quit building combine engines in early august, other times we worked 24/7 until late september to fill orders.
When the x9 came out I ran into a salesman and he made the comment he could sell all he could get but there were fewer medium sized farmers to buy the 3-5 year old combines,,I have seen more on dealer lots than we are used to.The big guys will still trade because they put alot of hours on but if the guys who trade every 3 years go to trading every 4-5 years they could have a lot of layoffs so they can keep the demand and price up on used equipment | |
