I've never felt Cidrs were worth the money. A few comments mentioned MGA, it works but is crucial they get a consistent amount during the feed period. Not necessary to pull the calves in my experience.
Here's what I recommend my clients
Gnrh
Wait 7 to 10 days
Lut
Wait 3 days and breed those that show visible signs
Breed the remaining cows with Gnrh
Most my clients get 60 to 70% on this protocol for mature cows, higher for yearling heifers.
I was going to suggest the one-shot prostaglandin program if time wasn't an issue and heat detection was possible,
Breed anything in heat from visual heat detection Day 1 to Day 5.
On Day 6, give one dose of prostaglandin to anything that isn't in heat yet. Breed them as they come in heat.
6-7 days later, give any non-responders another dose and breed on observed heat.
Concentrates heats to 12-14 days, minimizes shots to an average of one dose of prostaglandin, but doesn't use enough commi$$ion products to show up on protocol lists anymore. :-) |
