You are wrong there is science behind the fact that social distancing will work, from there you use modeling to determine what will be excepted as a reasonable detirant.
To bring it back to agriculture: science tells us ferterlizer will improve crop production , we then rely on modeling to tell us what rate gives us the best chance to be productive with ferterlizer use.
