Subject: Preparing for lower prices

What’s the best thing a young cattleman can do now, in a year of high prices and a pretty good profit margin, to prepare for when the market is inevitably going to go back down? Currently have 40 spring calving cows and 20 fall calvers. Planning on selling 15 feeders in April, and keeping 3 heifers from that group. Hoping to keep another 7 heifers from the spring cows.
I am Also calving out a group of 10 broken mouths I bought last month with the intent to cull the cow and sell the calf by October.
Eventually I would like to increase the herd size to 80-85 or more.
