I’ve never really seen much varietal changes in drydown. I did think once maybe the LHR alfalfa dried a bit slower, but I quit growing lh alfalfa anyway.
Wide swaths out of the mower, usually as wide as it can be set. and at least one steel roll (2 is better) set agressive. I don’t generally Ted, but if we try to make dry hay it’s generally on sand, and it seems to pull moisture out faster.
