Southern Illinois | When I still did sprayer work, I found a couple of times when new 2" flowmeters had too much play in the impeller adjustment screw. The impeller should spin freely with just blowing through it but, it also should just make a click when you shake it back and forth inline. When the adjustment is a bit too loose, the magnets on the impeller can move a bit too far out of line with the sensor pickup. This caused erratic flow readings.
These were both brand new machines delivered to commercial application businesses. The same issue could occur on 3" meters as the construction was similar.
Also just noticed you said you have the screw in type pickup. It's still possible that the impeller has too much slack in the endplay adjustment. Those screw in sensors mostly lasted years. The ones I know of that failed were usually on NH3 bars that sat outside all year long. | |
