Ya, you. Move to MO and try out that theory. Down here if you don't maintain pastures in some form, the thorns and hedge and blackberries will take a pasture in a few short years. Cows as brush control,,, laughable
The lack of small dairies and having cows in the small ravines and not fit to row crop areas has allowed those places to grow up. I can remember a lot ravines that were pastures when I was a kid that are all grown up with autumn olives now. Growing up grandpa had several spots that were too steep to ever clip and the cows did fine keeping it clean. This summer part of my herd is heading to a logged Colorado Blue Spruce field to keep things under control till the stumps rot off.
