| All this talk about limiting production should lead us down the Yellow brick road ---- NOT
Here is a short history of the mistakes from the 70's that lead to the crisis of the 80's

Once we had fully shot ourselves in the foot and pushed away our best costumer we spent another 7 years thinking that cutting production was going to cure our problems-- FAIL-- it wasn't until after all of that we figured out and got our cost structure under control, that we figured out the LDP system which supported supported USA pricing and undercut world Prices stopping expansion in its tracks. Brazil brought almost NO new acres into production from 1985-1994.
Limiting production did not work back then and will not work NOW. raising corn back to $5.50 and Beans to $13.00 will simply bring on more acres in Brazil. getting a glide path to lower production cost is and will be the answer long term but that kind of medicine is harder to swollow. | |
