Yea I would say that’s close. I would feel confident in 150-160 average most years across all acres. As with everyoke some fields and some zones can do better and some do worse. We are a silage only operation but there are plenty of neighbors who put up grain corn. Couldn’t tell you what they are doing as I don’t ask. Most of our ground is sand/gravels but you can go a mile down the road and it’s all clay.

We can take an inch of rain a week and be just fine but make do with what we get haha yes your part of the world can have some heavy soil in parts!!


Last year was probably the first year in awhile for thin stocks. The one variety we planted, it was maxed out at 30,000 and the seed dealer likes to see less. They are thin but boy did they grow. Otherwise pretty lucky with thick stocks. Can push two ears in the better parts of the field.


It works good for us but always curious about if it can be improved on. Seed corn seems to get more and more expensive every year
