Amherst WI | Nearly everyone that has replied so far is planting 108+ day corn. There is a huge variation in flex depending on maturity. The later hybrids (105+) tend to have a lot more flex to them than the earlier ones (80-90 day).
I assume you are planting about a 90 day now?
What's your yield goal now? You stated 181 but I assume you are talking national average?
"Here" 90 day corn planted at 24,000 would easily get you 150-170 bushel corn, but if I was making and Rx for planting I would probably be dropping a 28K rate in a 160 bpa yield environment, because it could be 200bpa or it could be 120bpa depending on the year. | |
