I don't think that 60-20-20 rule is far off. If you own the land it's a lot easier to take that bottom 20% and do some sort of set a side deal with it.
If you don't, you need to convince the 88 year old landlord that needs to be done despite that time in 1967 when he couldn't make it all the way around the field with the picker before the wagon was full but nobody has made a dime on it since other than the landlord and the input suppliers.
Well, I guess you can farm it all and pay the rent or somebody else will, you sure aren't going to cherry pick the 80% of the acres you can make big profit on and convince me to take the other 20% out of production. |
