WC MN | I think a big part of what you say is notil leading to soil issues is years or even decades of above average precipitation, you can keep notilling but it works a whole lot better with an assist from tile. Many of these soil health initiatives would be far more productive if tied into a program allowing or encouraging better drainage in exchange for less tillage. Even though some NRCS/SWCD people agree with a need for tile it doesn't fit the narrative on a national level so turns into cheerleading for cover crops and high residue without acknowledging what it takes to really make it tick. | |
