Subject: RE: Looking for wind turbine advice

east central iowa
In our state the wind company can get very favorable property tax treatment. Its up to each county to decide whether or not to do it. They are promoted as being a way to reduce property taxes for a given county. Well my county gave them lower tax treatment and now our property taxes have increased. Hmmmm. It sure seems like that decision should have been through a referendum of the citizens. We would feel different about the wind turbines if our taxes went down. The county next to us was approached about putting in wind farms. County said ok but no tax break. And company decided to not build there. Hmm. So your county needs to first write up rules for wind farm siting before letting them build . Our county let the wind company help write the rules. Hmm. This all being said I do like electricity and heat. This is just a issue that will devide your county. Just so you know what is ahead for you if you decide to do it.
