I have been toying around with the idea of doing some custom fencing in the future. Running some numbers tonight trying to figure out costs of doing everything.
Does $3500-$3750 seem reasonable for 1/2 mile four wire fence? This would include cost of posts and wire, labour, post pounder/truck/fourwheeler, tools, staples. I used some numbers from Sask Agriculture and adjusted them to what I see fit. Am I too high, too low? Then this would work out to $14000 to fence a 1/4 section, and as a rancher that number kinda scares me.
I think custom fencing might be a good sideline gig for me when I am done school. Wouldn`t need to be the biggest fencer around, just enough to have a supplemental income. I`m young and there is alot of people in this world who don`t like fencing, so that would be a good opportunity to capitalize on. But before I proceed any further the numbers gotta line up. Your feedback is appreciated! | |
