Southwestern Minnesota | I am not John Burns, but am a registered dietitian. And we're talking about the health of a newborn baby and the mother.
I would not rely on internet doctors but rather follow the guidance of your OB doctor and if needed get a referral to diabetes educators (registered nurse and registered dietitian) for help.
Sometimes you can manage gestational diabetes by diet, sometimes not. Pregnancy is a stress on the body and if diet alone cannot keep blood sugars under control, then insulin may be needed.
I would look to your health care providers for guidance.
