All 4*6 guys are the same, think there bales weigh same as 5*6 and use less net.

Lol no. I can actually weigh my bales at the elevator with a full load at a crack since I’m not 10’ wide. I know what they weigh. I’ve had truckers refuse to haul other guys 5x6 bales since they were so squatty they didn’t sit on a trailer well and didn’t hardly weigh 1000lbs.

Easiest way to figure out if a guy makes a good bale or not? Ask how much net he uses. If they use 1.75-2.25 wraps and the net doesn’t blow apart is a sure fire sign of light saggy bales. Ive had hay that routinely needs 3.5-4 wraps of cheap net to keep from exploding, quality net wrap is still 3 wraps.

A tight bale keeps spoilage to a minimum and provides the least trips to the field hauling hay home. If you think its to tight to feed bust it apart with the bale spear in the hay ring.
