Since you mentioned that he needs to be off the road before he injures or kills someone else.
Try to find things for him to do that makes him feel useful. Sounds like he is failing fast so be patient. Doesn’t sound like you will have to deal with this for very many months or years. Try to make it so later on you won’t have regrets. You may have to take him around with you instead of him being by himself.
