C IL | It’s been a few years since I reviewed the child labor laws for ag, so I looked them up again. Rules to children down to 10 years of age. 14 years old is a responsibility bracket, then 16. 14 years olds are restricted from the following, which does not appear to include include weed eating or lawn mowing, but does include lots of things that children of farm parents are allowed to do with parental supervision.
ETA: according to DOL it appears IL follows the federal rules with no state specific rules.
