| I remember back to 1986 when I was graduating and wanted to look at colleges. My parents didn't have a credit card and it was difficult to buy airfare and impossible to rent a car. My parents were pay as you go and only had a family held mortgage so didn't have much credit history. They finally got a low limit card through their local bank so we could travel to see colleges. I probably got my first card mid way through college so late eighties. Can't imagine living without one now as a convenience as I always pay it off monthly. I've been through numerous cards and now using a Citi with 2% cash back. Some places give a 4-5 cent discount on gas for cash but my 2% is more than that so I pay with the card. Also don't like waiting in convenience store lines behind people buying smokes and lottery tickets. | |
