Subject: RE: Crop Conditions - Disappointing

Missouri river bottom south of Sioux City, IA
I’ll be at $100 per acre in diesel fuel cost before the 4 of July. With little to no subsoil moisture I’m running 24/7 thinking I could build up some reserve moisture for the hot and dry weather we usually get in the middle to end of July. Well that was wishful thinking as the last two weeks of heat and no rain has turn center pivot irrigation into a spoon feeding operation at best. By the time the pivot gets around the crop needs a drink again. The US drought map released today is spot on for north western Iowa and northeast Nebraska. As of today it is the driest spot in the corn belt.
