Subject: RE: Railroad Question

South Central Illinois

In somewhat hilly terrain,
Longer trains are more efficient,
If a portion is going downhill while another portion is going uphill,
It pulls much easier.
The engine in the middle can help balance everything out.
There is a limit on what the couplers can handle also.
