| My farm is near a main line of the Union Pacific. While farming, I have watched trains pass for decades. Trains continue to grow longer over time. Now they're running 3 mile long trains. Had to extend most of the sidings to accomodate these trains.
I notice that there is an engine or two near the center of these lengthy trains. Any of you experts know why? My guess is that they need the air compressors to help maintain the uniform air supply to the braking system......but that's just a guess.
The two mile trains they run have engines on both ends, but not in the middle. Do they need the extra help propelling/moving the train.....? Or is it an AIR issue? showboat | |
