Its like when your pulling a long rope. When you go around a curve the rope will cut the corner and not stay on original course. A long train will pull the cars sideways off the track is the same way. When going around a curve they have a tendence to putt a side draft on the cars and then they want to cut across. Therefor on longer trains they put pusher engines on to help push them and stay the course.
