West Central Wisconsin | Dropped a valve in our 250 hp 3116 CAT mechanical the other day. Grain truck is a 94 Kodiak with Allison 5 speed auto, 600 bu. box and 170,000? miles. It's at a CAT shop now and they are suggesting a reman at $11,300. Is this a wet sleeve engine and would you suggest resleeving? Engine has some blow-by and oil pressure not the best so what about doing the lower end? I really don't want to pay for the truck again, so I've been calling around for used engines but no luck yet.
