Subject: RE: duramax diesel fuel milage and chipping?

central - east central Minnesota -

Waste of money - please send it to me instead . . .

I have a '06 4x4 crew cab (4 door) with bigger fat tires (mpg's couldn't get any worse) and I get 17 -18 around town. I have gotten 21 on back road trips (keeping speed down in the 65mph area) and generally 17-18 doing 75-80mph down the freeway. Pulling 14000lb trailer (thats the trailer and load) I get 11 - 13mph depending on wind and road. Never had power or loss of power with pulling that load.

Now, buddy has a 'o6 extended cab, stock wheels with a chip - he gets the same mpgs as I. He claims more power - but why ? He's pulled my same load and I couldn't tell a difference in performance sitting in passenger seat.

Know of another chipped truck and he still hasn't paid for the so called fuel savings with what he paid of the chip . ..

If you are not doing something special (truck pulls or heavier then you should be pulling trailers) I wouldn't waste the money . . . .
