Subject: RE: JD loader model # questions

NE SD

The 260-265 were made to fit 2wd tractors but not a mfd. Didn't have the clearance to get over the front wheels on the 4xx0 mfd tractors. 280 took care of that.

725 (replaced by 673) fits 2wd but won't fit a mfd like the 260 loaders. 740, 741, 746 all fit mfd tractors. 740 has been around the longest but is not nearly as easy to unhook as the 741. 746 fits the bigger series of 7x20 and 7x30 tractors only.

The 840 (843) loaders were designed to fit the 8xx0 tractors but you can get mounts for them to fit smaller tractors as well. It's a pretty beefy loader though.

You can get mounts for either a 740 or 725 to fit a 4430 or 40.
