Subject: RE: JD loader model # questions

68340

I currently have a self leveling 265 on a 3255 MFW.  The 260 was just an earlier model of the 265.  The 260 had a little smaller cyl. on it I think.  I remember the salesman saying it could not lift like they thought it should and the 265 could lift better or more.  He also said they put more steel into the 265 to stiffen up the frame.  T or F not sure.  He said JD had some frame troubles on the 260.

I know they made a 280 or a 285 then also.  The 280 or 285 was for the bigger frame tractors like the 4640 and the 4840, but it would also fit the smaller frame 4440 ect.  The 280 could not lift as high and the reach was not as far out from the tractor as a 265.  Have kept my greased and enjoy it with the grapple on the bucket.

Need to have the 265 on very flat ground when you unhook or else it is difficult to re hook to the tractor.

They don't make mountings for a 265 to go on the newer JD tractor.  Oh, I see you are going with the 4430 so you should be fine.
