Aberdeen MS
Rains????? what rains??? Since snow melt, I'm under 2" of rain fall.

Last 3 weeks I've had .6" of rain. I got the beans put in into moisture, but that didn't last long.... move the residue....moist ground at soil surface. Inside of 4 rounds....top was grayed off already. After yesterday and today...... top inch of soil is completely dry.. maybe even "plus 1".

I left Wadena this morning.....5 or 6 times visibility was under 1/4 mile.

I rolled my standing stalks....field after done looked like a chopped field. Road ditch was kinda full of corn stalk residue alongside my fields.... but no dirt blowing.

I figure I'm catching some of what I used to let go to the neighbors. "Easy" was of getting more dirt.....why pay for it when Mother Nature moves it for free. I just hope the neighbors fertilize like "hockey sticks" last fall and this spring.

Now for some rain so the bean fields will sprout and push on up through the stalk mat.
