My field pea and soybean fields have all been rolled this year and for the previous 5 years, what a blessing for harvest.
Almost no dirt or rocks above ground to go in the combine and varmint mounds and ruts are rolled flat.
Last years crop residue is not moving at all because it is still attached to the roots. No soil is moving either with 100% ground cover and firm soil.
Might the fields you see blowing be because of the tillage practice instead of rolling ? My fields have not seen a tillage tool in them since 94. No dust storm, gullies or black snow here. Good yeilds and continuous cropping is now the norm with the moisture savings

Tillage almost does not exist here, 90% direct seeded with narrow hoe type air seeders or notill with single disc box / air drills.
