Yes, we've seen plenty of fencerows in NE IL turn into row crop fields. However, I'm betting that the later yrs of their life, those fencerows had plenty of fertilizer thrown up on them, unless you're a lot better w/a spreader than we are. Maybe an old EZ-Flow could keep the granules off, but most spinners will go to the fencerow & sometimes a little beyond. They also do good because NOTHING has ever been removed. Any nutrients that nature placed there, stayed there! We tend to not like to treat our production fields that way. We really enjoy taking every bit out/off of it that we can. However, we realize there is no free lunch. Haul the grain out & something gets shorted. I don't believe you can do it forever. I base this only on experience, nothing learned at school. I'm not saying that it works that way in your area however. |
