Subject: DOT Number and IFTA sticker

Canton, OH & South Central PA
I am going to purchase a single axle tractor to pull a trailer and haul my farm tractors to shows. The gross weight will be over 26K but less than 54K pounds. If I am not for hire do I need to obtain a DOT number? I am planning to travel my home state of OH and also PA, IN, and IL, perhaps others. I was reading on the FMCSA website and it states I need to get a DOT number and also put my name and address on the side of my truck. Should I get an IFTA sticker too? I will be using it during the "nice" months and travel less than 10K miles per year. I may also use the rig and travel to purchase/haul other tractors/equipment (again I will not be for hire). What issues am I going to encounter during my journies? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
