I’m building a new shop and I need to run underground cable about 300 feet from the main 400 amp service box in the yard. I’m thinking of having a 200 amp service in the shop. Do I really need 200 amps in the shop? I don’t plan on having anything special in the shop. Just a welder, compressor, LED lights, a couple garage door openers etc. What size cable would I need to run underground?
