| Where do I sign? Any idea how many hours are on your donor engine? Those White 478 cu. in. diesels had torque to no end and were a good performing engine. White won a big military contract to build those engines for 2 1/2 ton army trucks, and you'll find them fairly plentiful in army surplus yards and the like or being taken out of these trucks with relatively low hours - makes a good alternative engine swap also. If you tear into your 135 engine, you will likely find a broken top piston ring and/or ring land that is resulting in your weak cylinder. The initial piston design had the top ring fairly close to the piston top resulting in a weaker ring land that was somewhat prone to failure - seems like in that 4k-6k hour range. Unless that 155 engine has been apart and fitted with the new-style pistons, the same thing could happen to it someday. | |
