north central Oklahoma | Ya know, I can't really answer that. I think a bigger part of it is the fact that we spend way less time with our own kids today than our parents did with us when we were growing up. I know few kids who do not have daycare now while parents are at work, very few stay at home moms. We were not poor, but not rich, but we were taught to eat what's in front of us, cause that's all that is gonna be cooked tonight. And except for a few city kids, I can't recall that there were that many picky kids in the 60's in grade school. Most were rural kids, having the same values. There are far less rural families, at least in my area, than back then. Don't want to get all Mayberry on anyone, but that is just about what our small rural areas were like then, Opie amongst all the rich spoiled kids and brats. And Opie was the Sheriff's kid, not a farm boy. | |
