Subject: RE: Drill Doctor black and decker

just a tish NE of central ND
My dad once came home from a auction with a black and decker bit sharpener. We called it a pencil sharpener and it was useless tool to us. It sharpened to a point.I try my hand at freehand and am getting worse at it as time goes by. (eyesight isnt as keen as it used to be it seems.) Just very reciently I have aquired a different grinder and stone made more for sharpening tools. That seems to help. As for the Drill dockter, a buddy of mine uses one and loves his.
Another freind has aquired at an auction sale, a grinder and a more professional like tool It is a grinder with a dressing diamond point. It has a bit holder that inserts with the bits into a tool holder guide that has a cam like affair that rolls the bit around and grinds the correct angles on to the bit as it follows the cam. Pretty good tool in my opinion.
Im not sure just how a drill doctor gets the angles right. does it also follow a cam?
