I disagree. The best performance I have had is from a 'free' Nokia. I've bought two or three on eBay since Alltel quit offering them. We have two towns in our area where you simply can't talk on a "good" phone, but my trusty Nokia will hold a call most of the time. Friends give me trouble about my 'rotary dial' cell phone, but hey, it works!
