SW Ontario | I have one that likes running in the red too. Checked it out, and eventually unhooked the wire to the temp sender when it was hot and found that the resistance in the sender indicated that the water was running 180 deg. All I can figure is that there is a corroded terminal or a bad guage. Forget the resistance off hand, but a tech manual will tell you, or put a heat gun to it and make sure it really is overheating before you spend money on it. I've just accepted that red line is normal, and if it goes over that it's reason for concern....if it keeps rising as outdoor temp and load increase, i'd think thremostats..... | |
