Chris,

We have seeded canola with a Valmar before. This was back in the day when we still summerfallowed. We would pre-work the summerfallow lightly, then go ahead and seed the canola through the Valmar, which was mounted on a 35' cultivator. We tried to seed about 1/2-3/4" deep. We would then follow with our double disk drills and put fertilizer down and pack it. It seemed to work alright. Seeding into heavy residue may cause a variation in seeding depth. I don't know if you would need to harrow it after. You may do more harm than good IMHO.
