Here is a link to the Valmar site which may be a help. They have several air applicators, but I am guessing that the mounted one is what you are referring to.
As mentioned you will have use a harrow and maybe a roller to get the seed where it will grow. Getting the seed covered might be an issue, but seeding it too deep should not be a problem as it is with some air seeders. Blow the seed on with a Valmar a little to heavy and then pray for rain.
Canola/Rape usually does a good job of seeding itself, sometimes for years.
It is hard to get a regular drill turned down low enough to seed Canola the at the recommended rates.

Can you use a diamond harrow setup or do they have to be heavy tine harrows?
