Subject: Re: Need info on JD 1850/1900 air drill

i have one just about like it. i bought it as a 7.5 spaced 30fter and spread it out to 10" 40fter the only thing wrong with the 50 series unies is the closing wheel bearing. i updated mine to the shoup conversion that has the bearing in the arm, instead of in the wheel. BIG BIG improvement. the only problem i have ever had with mine, is the cart. as you can see in a post i posted a few days ago i have had some trouble with the half-width disconnects not opening all the way and resticting the flow to the meeter and clogging up with large seed. i also put on shoup's extended wear boots and they have done great. i didnt order enough whenever i re-worked the drill so i had to buy two or three from deere to finish out the project. they have the same acres on them as the shoup ones and they are worn out!! the shoup ones have hardly any wear at all on them.
