If you have "dings" in the shaft, you are far form out of the woods. These will affect the balance of the shaft and you WILL take out the u joints prematurely. Hard to believe if it let go at 50 there isnt some damage to the shaft.However small , they still cause issues with the joints
drive shaft fell off going 50 mph today
