You have to take the responses you see on here, analyze them to your situation, then take them somewhat as a grain of salt. And that includes my response as well.

A comparison for your consideration.

I have a 400 Cat in front of a 13, tied into a 3:53 rear ratio. I've taken 92K out of the field and not even use the low hole. You'll do just fine with that setup. To save the clutch, on a full load in the field, back up 5-8 feet before trying to move forward.

30 yrs ago I was taking 78K out of the field with a 250 in front of a 13 on 3:73's. Too many of the operators today don't know anything under 400, and have bought into the concept of a few extra minutes per day is boom or bust. I put the majority of my million miles of driving sitting behind the wheel of 350 or less.

Like Plowboy stated, don't loose any sleep or supper over the purchase. It will do a fine job for you.
