Pittsburg, Kansas | Another thing we did to make the building a little stouter was to add a 20' length of channel iron that spans across the mid portion of the truss as you can see in the pictures, with a couple of braces angling down. In turkey barns the height in the center of the building is needed so the feed lines can be raised all the way up out of the way. We did not need that clearance and adding that one brace adds a lot of roof load strength and also stabilizes the building laterally against wind forces on the sidewalls.
