If memory serves me correct they have a SAE bell housing that a B series Cummins 6-359T would bolt up to. Can you post pictures of the arse end to see what it looks like and how much clearance you have under the axle? Another cheap option is a IH DT-360, it's about the same physical size, power range and hp of the 401.
