Subject: I'll never learn - Ford A64 (I think) loader engine

Well I'm getting the loader pretty cheap with a bad engine (ford 401). I talked to a guy on ebay with a 6.6L brazilian ford and said it would not fit in my loader. Naturally I'm sceptical (a good thing to be with my severely limited knowledge of ford) and wonder if the 401 and ford 6.6 are the same (ie. manifolds, fuel pump interchange for different applications). Also, what would be a cheap engine ($1000 or less) to stick in a loader if the 6.6 doesn't work out and a 401 isn't reasonable in price/availability?

I know I know, here we go again, but it has a rebuilt transmission and it will be pretty nice once all the corn dust is wiped out of the interior.

Thanks,

Pat

Ps: it might be an A62, but I think they are quite similar in the engine area.
