Talk to the well driller. I am sure he seen this before. Have the water tested. You will be drinking this water.
Have a friend that always had methane in his water. You could turn on the water very slow and then with a match you could light the hydrant to get a small flame. The seems ok for years....... until one day his wife was walking past the freezer and the ice maker clicked on. It exploded and the door flew across the room, hit the counter, moved the counter five inches, and the door smashed into the far wall penetrating the wall. Thankfully his wife just stepped past and it only bruised her whole are and did not kill her.
He now added a device to remove the gas when it leaves the well.
It is always better to know what you are dealing with.
