SE PA | From what I've understood, it's not actually the sulfur in the fuel that does any lubricating at all. The problem is that in order to remove the sulfur from the fuel, certain lubricating agents are also removed. In other words, dumping a 100% pure sulfur additive into your bulk tank isn't going to help you. However, adding some sort of lubricating additve to the bulk tank will help. And, in the case where you'd be running an '07 engine on ULSD, you would want to be certain that anything you add to the fuel is also ultra-low in sulfur content as well.
