Subject: lot of rain, poor corn yield

wc in
we had a lot of rain this year. although I am well drained, my corn yielded terrible. thank goodness for crop ins....the thing that puzzles me is that the corn plant looked beautiful all year. not a speck of leaf disease or showing any lack of nitrogen. btw, I had 28 percent nitrogen on top with the herbice, with a perfect rain to work that in. then too much later. but everyone tells me the yeild loss is from nitrgen loss. so, my question is....can the corn plant lack nitrgen but still look great?>?>?>?? also, at times i think the plant robbed the ear instead of the ear robbing the plant.
